A bill on a panic button in cabs has been submitted to the State Duma (GD). The document will oblige aggregators to place it on the home screen of gadget applications in order to signal threats to both passengers and drivers. With a one-touch "red button" it will be possible to call the police even in a stressful situation.

The author of the bill, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's Control Committee Dmitry Gusev told Izvestia that "the innovation will not only make it easier and faster to help in critical situations, but will also become a powerful deterrent for offenders."

According to the State Duma, the number of media reports of riots, fights and even murders in cab cars has increased by 27% in 2024.

"The murder of 40-year-old cab driver Elena Sarafanova in the town of Korkino in the Chelyabinsk region is proof of that," Gusev said.

Earlier, on November 29, it was reported that in the State Duma introduced a bill suggesting mandatory equipping of cab cars with recorders that will record what is happening in the cabin. The bill was prepared by a group of deputies from LDPR. It is assumed that the costs of the purchase of video recorders by carriers will be included in the taxable base, which will reduce the tax burden for organizations.
