Kursk region resident sentenced to 22 years in prison in state treason case

A resident of Kursk region has been sentenced to 22 years' imprisonment in a case of state treason and commission of a terrorist act. This was reported on December 12 by the united press service of the judicial system of Kursk region.

The criminal case was considered in the premises of the Kursk Regional Court in closed mode. The preliminary investigation was conducted by the investigative department of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in Kursk region. The sentence was passed by the Second Western District Military Court.

The defendant in the case is a 30-year-old native of Ukraine, a citizen of the Russian Federation Sergey Chernooky, who lives in Zheleznogorsk. It is established that from November 2023 to February 2024 he collected and transferred to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) data on transport infrastructure facilities of Zheleznogorsk district to the detriment of Russian security.

In addition, the man detonated a pyrotechnic device in front of the public reception of a political party in the city, and as part of an organized group committed an act of terrorism - arson in the branch of a charitable organization in Kursk.

"The court found him guilty of committing crimes under Art. 275 ("State treason"), item "a" part 2 of article 205 ("Terrorist act") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, and imposed a sentence of 22 years of imprisonment, the first five years - in prison, then - in a correctional colony of strict regime. As well as a fine of 400 thousand rubles and restriction of freedom for a period of two years", - stated in the Telegram-channel of the press service.

Earlier, on December 9, the Supreme court of Crimea sentenced a 33-year-old resident of Simferopol district, found guilty of treason, to 15 years in prison. It is established that the man from December 2022 to March 2023 collected and transmitted in messenger information about the movement of the Russian army on the highway "Tavrida", as well as about the military facility under construction to representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
