"Talking About Important Things" December 16 - topic and lesson program


On Monday, December 16, Russian schools and colleges will host another lesson from the "Talking About Important Things" series. The lesson, timed to coincide with the celebration of Russia's Constitution Day, is devoted to the procedure for adopting laws in our country. "Izvestia" tells what will be discussed with students of different classes.

The lesson on the topic "How are laws written?" is aimed at forming in students an idea of law-making processes in Russia, as well as the role of laws in regulating social relations, ensuring order and preserving justice.
The children will be told why laws are needed, what rights and freedoms they protect and how they affect people's daily lives. Schoolchildren and students will also learn how legislative mechanisms work in our country and what role ordinary citizens play in this.
The federal speaker will be Sangadzhi Tarbayev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourism Infrastructure Development. The session will last 30 minutes. Methodological materials and recommendations are published on the project website.

Pupils of grades 1-2 will be told about the rights and duties of citizens contained in the main law of Russia - the Constitution, and will also be reminded about the holiday in honor of its adoption. After that children will familiarize themselves with the main stages of the procedure of adopting the law. At the end of the lesson the children will be offered to remember the school rules and together with the teacher to make a check-list for the students.
Pupils from grades 3-4 will have a more detailed talk about the rights and duties of citizens. They will also be given the opportunity to discuss why laws are necessary and by whom they are made. In addition, children will take part in a team game "Our Class", where they will be able to propose their initiatives to improve classroom organization.
Pupils in grades 5-7 will be told about the role of laws in preserving public order and regulating relations within the state. Pupils will also learn who creates laws and how they are adopted. In the second half of the lesson, the children will divide into groups representing members of the State Duma, the Federation Council and the public to develop and submit their own bill to the president (teacher) for signature. After that they will have an interactive mini-task to compose proverbs about the law.
Pupils in grades 8-11 will talk about the main functions of the law: ensuring justice, protecting rights and freedoms, regulating social relations, preventing crime, etc. After familiarizing themselves with the procedure of adopting laws, the children will be able to take part in a team game, which in a simplified format represents the work of the State Duma and the Federation Council. Students will have to develop several legislative initiatives, discuss them with representatives of different political parties, the public and members of the Council of Federation (classmates), and then submit them to the President (teacher) for signing.
"Conversations about important" December 16 - about the project
"Conversations about Important" is a cycle of extracurricular classes launched by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in 2022. Students are told about the history, geography, culture and state structure of Russia. They also discuss topical issues of everyday and school life. The lessons take place every Monday in all schools and colleges across the country.
The previous lesson was dedicated to the celebration of Heroes of the Fatherland Day. Schoolchildren and students were told about the traditions of the celebration and reminded about the feats of the defenders of the Motherland who defended the interests of Russia in different eras.
