President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev said that he is very optimistic about the prospects for Russian-Kazakh cooperation. He made this assessment at a December 12 meeting with Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko in Astana.
According to the Kazakh side, the meeting touched upon issues of trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
"Relations between our states are developing on an ascending line. President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin recently paid a state visit to our country. A serious impetus was given to the further development of strategic partnership, alliance between our states. I am very optimistic about the future of our interaction," Tokayev said on the official website of his press service.
Tokayev called Matvienko's visit to Kazakhstan another milestone event for the expansion of the complex multifaceted strategic partnership between the two countries, including the strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties.
In turn, the speaker of the Sovfed expressed her gratitude for the meeting and conveyed to Tokayev the words of Putin's greetings.
"The visit was indeed very productive and effective. The main thing is that our cooperation, which is gaining momentum, is mutually beneficial and mutually respectful. Thanks to the efforts of the heads of state of Kazakhstan and Russia, bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented level," Matvienko said.
She noted that real examples of strong strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Kazakhstan can be seen in any sphere.
The delegation of the Federation Council headed by Matviyenko flew to the capital of Kazakhstan on the eve of the official visit. During the trip, she also met with the chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh parliament, Maulen Ashimbayev, and signed a plan of interparliamentary cooperation for 2025-2027 and an agreement on cooperation between the apparatuses of the upper chambers of the legislative bodies of the two countries.
Earlier, on November 27 and 28, Putin paid a two-day visit to Kazakhstan. During it, Russian-Kazakhstani delegation talks were held, during which the head of state noted the dynamic development of bilateral relations, which are both business and friendly. Tokayev, in turn, emphasized that Astana was and remains a reliable strategic partner and ally of Moscow.
