Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, pointed out the importance of supporting Russian chemical companies so that they could export fertilizers in sufficient volume. This, in turn, will allow them to ensure the profitability of production and supply fertilizers to farmers at affordable prices. This was reported to journalists in the press service of Deputy Prime Minister on December 12.

The day before it became known that in accordance with the government decree, the size of the export duty on mineral fertilizers was reduced from 10 to 7%.

Patrushev noted that the state supports fertilizer producers, stimulates investment in the industry. Thus, over the past 10 years, the volume of investments has reached almost 2 trillion rubles, which allowed to meet domestic demand, taking into account the interests of domestic agricultural producers.

"This is our priority task. In five years, the fertilizer application rate has increased by 40% and last year reached 68 kg per hectare. But in a changing external market, it is important to support chemical companies so that they also have the opportunity to export Russian fertilizers in sufficient quantities. This will allow them to ensure the profitability of production and supply fertilizers to farmers at affordable prices," Patrushev stressed.

The press service of the Deputy Prime Minister specified that the producers earlier pointed out that the price of fertilizers on foreign markets is decreasing. In this regard, the issue of duty was raised at a recent meeting chaired by Patrushev. During the discussion, it was noted that the reduction of the duty would increase the competitiveness of Russian fertilizers in foreign markets and ensure the growth of their production - this would ensure the affordability of prices in the domestic market for Russian agricultural producers.

Earlier, on September 6, Alexander Daniltsev, Director of the Trade Policy Institute of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, said that Russian fertilizers are competitive on world markets. According to him, the countries are not able to replace them completely, so including the United States are interested in this product from Russia.
