Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term of office expired in May) has no right to represent the Ukrainian people after refusing to cease fire on Christmas Day. This was stated by journalist Diana Pachenko on December 11.

"He has no right to represent the people of Ukraine! We want peace! Save Ukraine from Zelensky!" - she wrote on her page in X (former Twitter).

So the journalist commented on the Ukrainian leader's rejection of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's proposal for a ceasefire for Christmas.

The day before, Orban said that Hungary had offered Kiev to establish a ceasefire with Russia for Christmas and exchange prisoners, but the Ukrainian president rejected this initiative. He added that the country had done everything in its power and called this decision of the Ukrainian side sad.

Earlier, on November 30, the British newspaper The Times wrote that Zelensky's chances of re-election are small. It was specified that only 16% of Ukrainians would support re-election, while 60% opposed his candidacy for office.

Before that, on November 6, the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yevhen Shevchenko called on the winner of the presidential election in the United States, Republican Donald Trump, to help hold elections of the head of state in Ukraine and said that the authoritarian dictatorial regime will ruin the country. Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Kornienko, in turn, asked Trump to do the maximum for the re-election of the Ukrainian parliament.

According to the provisions of the Ukrainian Constitution, Zelensky's presidential term ended on May 20. Elections were to be held in March this year, but they were canceled due to the martial law in Ukraine imposed by the president, valid from February 24, 2022.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on 17 May that the issue of the legitimacy of the president should be resolved within the Ukrainian state, while the issue of the legality of the Ukrainian political leader in office remains important for Russia.
