Russian air defense forces destroyed 16 AFU drones overnight over Russian regions


Last night, Russian air defense forces destroyed 16 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over different regions of Russia. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 12.
"During the past night during the Kiev regime's attempt to make a terrorist attack <...> on objects on the territory of the Russian Federation, 16 Ukrainian UAVs of airplane type were destroyed and intercepted by the on-duty air defense means," the ministry pointed out.
It is specified that four drones were destroyed over the territory of Kursk region, one - over the Chechen Republic, three - over the territory of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania and eight - over the territory of Crimea.
A day earlier, on December 11, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Russian Armed Forces ' on-duty air defense assets intercepted and destroyed 14 unmanned aerial UAVs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) over the Bryansk Region.
Before that, on December 10, Russian air defense forces shot down three Ukrainian drones over the waters of the Black Sea. As specified in the Russian Defense Ministry, the attack was foiled from 10:40 to 11:10 Moscow time.
The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
