A citizen of Belarus, who was in a state of alcoholic intoxication, staged a drunken debauch in a hotel on the popular tourist island of Phuket in Thailand, after which he attacked the police officers, who arrived on a call from the hotel staff. This was reported on December 12 by the newspaper Bankok Post.

The publication reports that law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene found an intoxicated foreigner in underwear, who violated public order. Later it became known that the offender was a 39-year-old citizen of Belarus. When detained, he attacked police officers and hotel guards.

The man was charged with violation of public order and assault on police officers in the line of duty. On the second charge, the Belarusian, according to Thai law, may face a fine of up to $5 thousand or imprisonment from two years to life, depending on the severity of injuries inflicted on police officers.

The newspaper also specifies that the detained citizen of Belarus was vacationing in Phuket with his wife and three minor children. The man's family visited him at the police station, and then flew home as planned. The troublemaker remained in a temporary detention cell in Phuket to appear in court.

Earlier, on November 24, it was reported that in Primorye, a man attacked with a knife on two police officers who arrived on a report of debauchery. The attacker turned out to be a repeatedly convicted local resident born in 1994. The prosecutor's office recognized as legitimate the initiation of criminal proceedings under part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Use of violence dangerous to life or health, or threat of violence against a representative of authority, in connection with the performance of his official duties").
