Russian Armed Forces Marines seize fortified AFU positions in Kursk Region

On December 12, the Russian Defense Ministry published footage of the combat work of servicemen of the Pacific Fleet's Marine Brigade performing combat missions as part of the "North" force grouping to capture fortifications, destroy armored vehicles and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region.
The ministry noted that thanks to continuous monitoring of the AFU's actions with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the Russian military managed to detect the main resistance nodes and knock the enemy out of strongholds in the shortest possible time.
The defense ministry stressed that the assaults resulted in the destruction of Western-made AFU military equipment. The Ukrainian fighters retreated and abandoned their killed fighters, weapons and combat vehicles.
Units of the "North" troop group in the border area of Kursk Region continue to follow the assault groups and entrench themselves in the liberated territories.
Earlier, on November 9, servicemen of the Black Sea Fleet Marine Brigade captured positions and destroyed military equipment and manpower of the AFU in the Kursk border area. It is noted that as a result of the battle, the marines captured Western-made trophy weapons, flags and personal belongings of Ukrainian militants.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory are being liquidated.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
