Poll shows almost half of Muscovites believe in Mercury retrograde

Periods of Mercury retrograde are tracked by at least 20% of Moscow residents. At the same time, every twentieth (5%) tries not to make large purchases at this time. This on Thursday, December 12, follows from the results of the ADG group survey on superstitions of the capital's residents.
"Half of Muscovites believe in astrology (48%), and almost as many (49%) read horoscopes. Every third respondent (31%) regularly checks general horoscopes, every fifth (18%) - with personal ones", - reports "Gazeta.Ru" on the results of the study.
At the same time, less than half of the city dwellers believe in folk omens (44%), and every second participant of the study - dreams (52%).
Only a third (32%) of Moscow residents believe that karma does not exist. One third of Muscovites (36%) at least once in their lives have guessed on Tarot cards, but only 14% of respondents consider them a sure way to know the future.
In June, Duma deputy Alexander Spiridonov sent an appeal to the head of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology Anton Shalaev to exclude astrologers, chiromancers and spiritualists from the list of all-Russian classifiers. He emphasized that this would help to counteract the shadow sector of the economy and protect citizens from fraud. The deputy also pointed out that such a measure would protect people from the negative impact on mental and physical health.
