In Italy, cardiac surgeons have performed the world's first beating heart transplant

In the Italian city of Padua, doctors have performed the world's first operation on transplantation of a working heart. This was reported by Messaggero on Wednesday, December 11.
In this way, damage from ischemia (reduced blood supply) and reperfusion (manifestations of blood circulation recovery) will be eliminated both at the time of intake and during transplantation, experts said. Doctors believe the new technology will provide faster recovery of heart function with improved postoperative performance.
The patient is noted to be healthy and preparing for discharge.
The country's first heart transplant surgery was performed at the same hospital, but almost 40 years ago.
Earlier, on November 20, doctors in St. Petersburg saved a pregnant woman from Tuva with pathology. Initially, the woman went to the doctors because she felt unwell after suffering from acute respiratory viral infections, but the examination showed that she had a severe heart disease.
