When choosing sweet gifts for the New Year for a child, it is important to pay attention to the composition of sweets, Maria Vorotintseva, a pediatrician at the Family Clinic on Chasovaya Street, told Izvestia.

Products with artificial additives, such as flavor and aroma enhancers, as well as preservatives, oils and fats of non-natural origin should be avoided, the doctor said. Packaging should be intact and the expiration date should be current.

"Make sure a list of all sweets is listed on the packaging. If the gift includes a toy, it should be in a separate package, and the toy itself should have all the necessary information, including the composition and country of production," Vorotintseva reminded.

She also called to pay attention to the nutritional value of sweets. During the New Year holidays it is better to give preference to less caloric options, such as marshmallows, marmalade or marshmallow, said the doctor. Children under the age of three should avoid candy altogether, as their digestive system is still underdeveloped.

For children under the age of six, it is recommended to limit candy consumption to one or two pieces a day, while children over the age of six can eat two to three candies a day. However, it is important to keep an eye on the total amount of sugar consumed.

Sweet gifts should be bought exclusively in official stores, supermarkets or specialized outlets. Pay attention to the reputation of the manufacturer - well-known brands usually carefully control the quality of their products and use natural ingredients.
