- Retailers began to expand their networks in small towns with defense industry enterprises

Retailers have started to expand their networks in small towns with defense-industrial complex (DIC) enterprises against the background of the growth of salaries of their employees. This was told to Izvestia by business representatives.
"We are opening compact stores in new locations and cities, including Siberia and the Far East, where historically we have had a smaller presence and where there are a large number of customers - employees of Russian industrial enterprises who have good incomes in the current environment," a source in one of the federal networks told the paper.
A representative of M.Video-Eldorado says the company has opened more than 90 stores in 21 cities since the beginning of the year. The new format of retail outlets assumes an average area of 500-600 square meters, which is on average half the size of stores with traditional area (1-1.5 thousand square meters), while customers have access to the entire range.
Retailers are opening more and more new stores in locations related to the DIC, noted in the network "Svyaz.ON". Quicker than classical retailing were the networks of marketplace outlets, which require minimal investment and make it very easy to respond to the new solvent demand. Then, more capital-intensive types of retail trade pulled up, its representative specified.
According to Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group, retailers are going to defense industry centers for customers. He noted that with the beginning of the Special Military Operation (SMO) it turned out that 5.5-6 million Russian citizens, including defense workers and their relatives, have become quite solvent buyers.
