FBI head Christopher Wray has announced his early departure from his post

Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States Christopher Wray announced his early resignation from his position. This was reported by The New York Times (NYT) on December 11.
The publication reported that Ray made such a decision after US President-elect Donald Trump publicly announced his intention to replace him with his longtime supporter before the end of his 10-year term as head of the FBI.
"After weeks of careful consideration, I have decided that it is the right thing for the bureau if I serve until the end of the current administration's term in January and then step down," the newspaper quoted Rey as saying.
Earlier, Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with Rey's activities as head of the FBI. According to the Republican, crime in America is at its highest level. He was also deeply offended by the searches in his estate, initiated by Rey. Trump compared FBI employees to the Gestapo and noted that in his estate the representatives of the bureau managed to find only folders from secret documents. There were no important papers.
In August 2022, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation searched Trump' s estate amid a Justice Department investigation that he had removed official presidential documents to a Palm Beach estate. Trump said the estate was "under siege, vandalized and occupied" but did not say what the reason for the search was. Before that, he confirmed that he had agreed to return certain records to the archives, calling it a "routine and ordinary process."
In all, nearly a hundred documents of various levels of secrecy were seized from the Republican during the searches. Some of them were kept mixed with magazines, newspapers, books and photographs. In addition, gifts, books and some clothes were found. It was also noted that empty folders labeled "secret" and "top secret" were found in Trump's possession.
