- CAS explained why it prevented Ukraine from taking titles away from Zenit coach Tymoschuk

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled that the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) cannot deprive a member of the coaching staff of Zenit Anatoliy Tymoshchuk of the titles he won while playing for the Ukrainian national team. This is reported on December 11 on the CAS website.
In 2022, the UAF deprived Tymoschuk of the titles of winner of the championship, Cup and Super Cup of Ukraine and prohibited to carry out any activity related to soccer. In 2023, the ex-footballer filed a lawsuit with CAS against the UAF's decision. In November this year, his appeal was granted.
The CAS decision said that Tymoschuk's titles were "not subject to forfeiture in the circumstances" as he was not facing any charges related to winning the titles in question.
"They were titles won by the appellant on the field of play many years ago without any question mark over them. They are not subject to forfeiture under the circumstances. There were no allegations or circumstances surrounding the winning of these titles," CAS said in its decision.
In February 2017, the three-time Ukrainian champion received a PRO class coaching license. In the same year he joined the coaching staff of Zenit, supplements "Sport-Express".
In January last year Kiev put Anatoly Tymoschuk on the sanctions list. At the same time, TV presenter Zhanna Badoeva, an ex-citizen of Ukraine, was also on the blacklist.
