At the AI Journey conference, they talked about the introduction of AI into the social security system of the Lipetsk region

The Government of the Lipetsk Region has drastically shortened the period for the payment of social benefits to residents with the help of artificial intelligence technologies from Sber. This was announced by Olga Beloglazova, Deputy Governor of the region, at the AI Journey international conference.

The Lipetsk government processes about 1 million applications a year for various measures of social support at both federal and regional levels. There are 100 of them in total - for large families, children, pensioners and pregnant women. This is about 500 thousand people. Only 30% of them receive targeted support measures. Often Lipchans apply for them only in a critical situation.

Residents submit applications through 28 communication channels. The application of Sber's Process Mining process analytics platform helped to process and analyze all requests for 2024 from different channels, which is 280 scenarios, in three weeks. Manual processing would have taken two years.

As a result, the speed of payment decision-making has been reduced from 21 days to 12 days. The immediate plans are to reduce the timeframe to one day.

According to Taras Skvortsov, Senior Vice President, Head of Sberbank's Finance Block, the Process Mining platform can be embedded in healthcare, procurement, financial processes, tax functions and anywhere information systems are used and have digital footprints.

"The successful experience of the Lipetsk Region platform can be scaled to other regions," he emphasized.

"Timely payment of social benefits is one of the priority tasks for the government of the Lipetsk region. The introduction of the platform has significantly increased the efficiency of the social protection system in the region. Now the volume of tasks that used to take two weeks can be accomplished in one day," Olga Beloglazova noted.

Process Mining technology is a tool for analyzing business processes based on "digital traces" in information systems, which helps optimize AI-based processes.
