Rosaviatsia extends recommendations with ban on night flights to Israel

Rosaviatsia has extended until January 11 recommendations for airlines, prohibiting flights to Israel from 1:00 to 7:00 Moscow time. This was announced on December 11 by the representative of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) Artem Korenyako.
"After analyzing the situation in the Middle East, Rosaviatsia has extended for another month, until January 11, 2025, previously issued recommendations on the performance of flights from Russian airports to airports in Israel for Russian air transport operators - such flights are prohibited from 01:00 to 07:00 Moscow time," - wrote Korenyako in his Telegram-channel.
The spokesman pointed out that airlines should make a decision on flights to Israel at other times, taking into account the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on assessing the riskiness of civil aircraft flights over conflict zones and in their vicinity.
Korenyako added that Rosaviatsia continues to monitor the situation with flights of Russian airlines in the airspace of Israel, Iran and Iraq.
Earlier, on November 24, the agency extended restrictions on flights to Israel, allowing such flights only between 9:00 and 19:00 Moscow time.
On October 1, Iran launched a large-scale attack on Israeli territory, firing about 400 rockets. On the same day, Rosaviatsia recommended that Russian airlines refrain from flying to airports in Israel, Iran and Iraq for security reasons. These recommendations were later extended and updated several times.
Later, on October 26, Israel carried out a retaliatory attack on Iranian territory. The Islamic republic threatened repercussions in the coming days. Against the backdrop of this strike, Iran closed its airspace, due to which six flights had to return to Russian airports.
The situation in the Middle East escalated in the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected the territory of Israel to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
