Musk became the first person in history with a fortune of more than $400 billion

American billionaire, owner of the platform X (formerly Twitter) Ilon Musk became the first person in history whose fortune exceeded $400 billion, Bloomberg reported on December 11.

According to the publication, the last time Musk's fortune increased by $50 billion, to $439.2 billion, thanks to the sale of shares in his company SpaceX.

The publication explained that the growth of profits of the entrepreneur is also associated with the victory in the elections of US President Donald Trump. Thus, the shares of the electric car manufacturer Tesla increased by about 65% compared to the period before the election. This is due to the expectation that Trump will simplify the introduction of unmanned cars and cancel tax benefits for Tesla's competitors.

The day before, on December 10, Musk said that he did not want to become the person of the year according to Time magazine. The entrepreneur was on the short list of candidates for 2024 along with Trump, current Vice President Kamala Harris, Princess of Wales Kate Middleton and others.

Before that, on December 6, CNN reported that Musk spent at least $260 million on the election campaign of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.

Earlier, on November 7, Bloomberg reported that Trump's election victory led to a record $63.5 billion increase to the fortunes of the 10 richest people in the world. For example, American entrepreneur Ilon Musk earned $26.5 billion, the capital of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos increased by $7.14 billion, the profit of Oracle director Larry Ellison amounted to $9.88 billion, and the creator of Microsoft Bill Gates - $1.82 billion.
