The delegation of the Federation Council (FC) headed by Chairman Valentina Matvienko on Wednesday, December 11, flew to the capital of Kazakhstan Astana on an official visit.
Matviyenko will meet with Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament, and their talks will focus on the prospects for inter-parliamentary cooperation, taking into account the results of Russian President Vladimir Putin 's state visit to Astana.
The delegates will also meet with parliamentarians of the republic, it is planned to sign a plan of interparliamentary cooperation between the SF and the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan for 2025-2027 and an agreement on cooperation between the apparatuses of the upper chambers of the legislative bodies of the two countries.
The Russian delegation consists of First Deputy Chairman of the SF, co-chairman of the Commission on Cooperation between the SF and the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Andrei Yatskin, Chairman of the SF Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin, Deputy Chairman of the SF Committee on Budget and Financial Markets Andrei Epishin and other senators.
Earlier, on November 27, Putin arrived in Kazakhstan on a two-day visit. During it, Russian-Kazakhstani delegation talks were held, during which the head of state noted the dynamic development of relations between Russia and Kazakhstan. This interaction has not only business, but also friendly nature.
Kazakh President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, in turn, emphasized that Astana was and remains a reliable strategic partner and ally of Moscow, and expressed his gratitude to Putin for the visit.
