The World Cup in 2030 will be held on three continents

The International Football Federation (FIFA) officially announced on December 11 that the 2030 FIFA World Cup will be held on three continents.

Three matches will be held in South America: in Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina, also games will be held in Portugal, Spain and Morocco.

It is specified that this is the first championship to be held on three continents and in six countries.

The opening match, which will feature the local national team, will be played in Uruguay. Also their first meetings in the group stage, the national teams of Argentina and Paraguay will play at home.

It is noted that 2030 will mark the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup in history, which was held in Uruguay.

Also Saudi Arabia was announced as the venue for the mundial in 2034.

The previous World Cup was held in 2022 in Qatar. The winner was the national team of Argentina, which defeated the team of France in the final (3:3, penalty shootout - 4:2).

Earlier, on December 2, President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov said that Russian soccer clubs and national teams will be allowed to participate in international tournaments in 2025. He also noted that the change of attitude to Russian clubs, among other things, can be seen by the number of national teams that are ready to come to the Russian Federation in 2025 to hold matches.

Earlier, on November 28, it became known that the Russian national soccer team was not among the participants of the five baskets for the draw for the 2026 World Cup qualifying tournament in the zone of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

On February 28, 2022 FIFA and UEFA suspended national teams and clubs from the Russian Federation from participation in all competitions under the auspices of the organizations. As assured in the organizations, soccer will become "a vector of unity and peace between nations" in case the situation around Ukraine improves.
