Doctor told how many vegetables you should eat to lower your risk of heart attack

The habit of eating at least 400 g of fruits and vegetables every day reduces the risk of heart attack, stroke, increase in body weight and cholesterol levels, development of cancer, diabetes and purine metabolism. This was reported to "Izvestia" on December 12 by Natalia Kharchenko, MD, gastroenterologist of the European Medical Center EMC.
She emphasized that according to the norms of the Ministry of Health of Russia and recommendations on proper nutrition, an adult should eat 800-1000 g of fruits and vegetables every day. Excessive reduction of this amount and refusal to eat fruits and vegetables, in turn, negatively affects health, prevents you from losing excess weight and worsens well-being, the expert noted.
"But there are a few nuances. First, every day it is important to eat 400 g of vegetables without starch. This is cabbage, carrots, beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, pumpkin. Secondly, 250 g should come from potatoes. And the remaining 280 g are fruits. And it is desirable that they were unsweetened apples and citrus fruits", - specified the interlocutor of the publication.
Thus, she explained, bananas, peaches, mangoes and other sweet fruits in large quantities are fast carbohydrates that increase the content of fructose in the body. However, if for an adult the average norm of the amount of vegetables is 800-1000 g, then for children it is different. For example, children from one to three years old are enough 100 g of vegetables and fruits, 4-10 - about 200 g, and in 11-17 - about 250 g.
"Vegetables are a source of vitamins, minerals and fiber - coarse and soft dietary fiber, useful for the intestines, as well as flavonoids. Remember: the more different fruits and vegetables you eat, the more vitamins, organic acids and dietary fiber your body gets," concluded the specialist.
Earlier, on November 15, urologist andrologist of the reproductive health center "SM-Clinica" Artur Bogatyrev told "Izvestia" that people with kidney disease should avoid products containing large amounts of oxalates, such as spinach, nuts, French fries, chips, beets, sorrel, bran and chocolate. They are also better off limiting their intake of foods high in potassium, particularly avocados.
Prior to that, on November 11, Irina Perminova, a gastroenterologist at the Mytishchi Regional Clinical Hospital, told the Moscow City News Agency that persimmons contain a large amount of antioxidants and potassium, which are useful for maintaining a healthy nervous system and youth.
