Putin was shown a smart ring and other Sber gadgets

On December 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin was shown a smart ring and other Sber gadgets at an exhibition held at the AI Journey 2024 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Moscow.

As explained to the head of state, these gadgets allow to remotely collect basic biometric parameters of the human body and interpret them with the help of a neural network or send them directly to a doctor. Thus, patients can be provided with fast, timely and high-quality assistance.

"Early diagnosis and detection of diseases. The second is the management of patients who already have a diagnosis, and the third is the prevention of diseases through lifestyle adjustments," - said the specialist, speaking about the advantages of the "smart" ring.

The head of state was also shown a smart camera that can scan a person's ears, nose, throat and skin, send the results to a doctor for further diagnosis and make a diagnosis.

"Together with the Ministry of Health, we have worked out. All these devices received a certificate last week for a remote monitoring system: you don't need to go to a doctor, you can take readings, and the doctor will tell you via video link where to attach [the device] so that all the signals are transmitted," another expert added.

According to experts, half a million people are already being monitored remotely, and mortality is being reduced by 30%. This is especially important and relevant for remote regions, where it is difficult and long for doctors to reach.

Earlier, on December 2, leading researcher of the AIRI Institute, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SberMedII, PhD in Medicine, radiologist Viktor Gombolevsky told Izvestia that AI is actively used in medicine and helps to detect diseases at early stages.

He specified that the technology remains an auxiliary tool for doctors, as it requires human control and expert evaluation. AI is capable of processing and analyzing large amounts of data, identifying patterns and suggesting possible diagnoses or treatment methods, but important aspects such as individual patient characteristics, the context of the clinical situation and emotional support require the involvement of an experienced doctor.
