Putin points to Russia's leadership in providing public services with the help of modern technologies

Russia is one of the world's leaders in the provision of public services using modern technologies. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this on December 11 at the AI Journey 2024 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Moscow.

"Undoubtedly, we are one of the leaders in the world in providing public services using modern technologies. We have somewhere over 130 million users, oddly enough, that is approaching the number of Russian citizens. This is a very large percentage," said the head of state.

He said that the authorities in general throughout the Russian Federation provide more than 200 types of services in electronic form, and this is not a bad result, but the number of such public services will grow.

Putin noted that the speed of receiving and processing information, which is directly related to making decisions on time, as well as feedback from those to whom the results of these decisions are addressed, are extremely important for improving the activities of the entire state apparatus.

The head of state emphasized the importance of regional leaders becoming inclined to apply such techniques and capabilities. The President added that Sber is helping in this area.

At the same speech, Putin named Moscow as one of the world leaders in the implementation of "smart city" technologies. Artificial intelligence (AI) covers almost all areas of life, such as healthcare, housing and utilities, and education. The head of state noted that one of the most notable is the result of using AI to fight crime: the number of robberies in the capital has decreased by 10 times and burglaries by 34.5 times.

At the same time, the president emphasized that it is important for Russia to independently engage in developments in the field of artificial intelligence, and this is one of the key conditions for achieving scientific, technological and attitudinal sovereignty of the country. In addition, the Russian Federation should work in the field of AI together with other countries that wish to join.
