Putin named Moscow one of the world's leaders in implementing a smart city

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on December 11 during his speech at the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI) AI Journey 2024 in Moscow that the country is implementing the capabilities of "smart cities", and the capital is one of the world leaders in this area.
The head of state added that, of course, artificial intelligence, covers almost all areas of life: housing and utilities, transportation, healthcare, education, etc., but one of the most telling areas of AI use is the fight against crime.
"The number of robberies has decreased (by more than 10 times. - Ed.), and burglaries in Moscow have decreased by 34.5 times. <...> It is precisely because of the use of AI capabilities. Therefore, in all spheres, of course, AI <...> plays a huge role. Without any doubt, these opportunities will be increased, and we will try to use them all," he said.
During the same speech, the Russian leader noted that AI technologies have transformed the face of entire industries in Russia over the past year. Putin pointed out that Russia has become the most important platform for discussing advanced technologies and added that the country needs to be at the forefront of large-scale worldwide technological changes.
At the same time, the head of state suggested holding a strategic session in Russia on the future of artificial intelligence, adding that the Russian side invites scientists from all over the world to work together.
