The Russian Defense Ministry reported an attack by the AFU on an airfield in Taganrog with ATACMS missiles

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) struck a military airfield in Taganrog with six ATACMS ballistic missiles on the morning of December 11. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"Two missiles were shot down by the combat formation of the Pantsir SAM system, the rest were deflected by means of electronic warfare," the ministry said.

The Defense Ministry added that there were casualties among personnel when the debris fell, while no destruction was recorded. The ministry added that two buildings on the technical territory of the airfield and three units of military vehicles were hit by shrapnel.

There was also minor damage to civilian cars in the parking lot adjacent to the airfield.

The Defense Ministry warned that the attack by Western long-range weapons would not go unanswered.

Earlier in the day, Yuri Slyusar, the acting governor of the Rostov region, said that an industrial plant was damaged and more than a dozen cars were burned as a result of the night missile attack on Taganrog. Also, air defense (air defense) forces destroyed a drone over the region.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
