Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have transformed the face of entire industries in Russia over the past year. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 11.

The head of state pointed out that Russia has become the most important platform for discussing advanced technologies. He added that the country needs to be at the forefront of large-scale technological changes.

"I note that in the past year alone, artificial intelligence technologies have significantly transformed the face of entire industries," Putin said during his speech at the AI Journey 2024 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence.

Highlighting the capabilities of generative models, the Russian leader pointed to the coming revolution in engineering, design, and construction of new components and entire devices.

Earlier, on December 9, Putin said that when dealing with the Internet and AI, a balance between ensuring security and development opportunities is important. The head of state called it a difficult task to achieve such a balance. In addition, he noted that the legal regulation of the Internet, artificial intelligence, robotics and the use of big data require special attention to achieve this goal.

Before that, on November 21, Dmitry Solopov, president of the PROGRESS communications group, told Izvestia that every third creative project in Russia is created using AI. This saves employees' time and helps them focus on more creative and strategic aspects, he noted.

On November 7, Putin called artificial intelligence an essential tool for development. The Russian president noted that despite the country's labor shortage, this and other economic problems will be solved in the future thanks to the development of AI. The head of state added that there is also an opportunity to develop the nuclear sphere with the help of artificial intelligence, but it should be carefully regulated.
