On 11 January, the Latvian Seimas adopted in the final reading the law on the confiscation of the cultural and business center "House of Moscow" in Riga in favor of the state. On the same day, the Russian embassy in Latvia said that the adoption by the Latvian parliament of the law providing for the confiscation of the House of Moscow was arbitrary and robbery. It notified the Latvian side about the inevitability of retaliatory measures.

As Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted during a briefing on January 12, Russia regards the expropriation of the "House of Moscow" in Riga as raiding, theft, and theft on a national scale.

The raider seizure of the "House of Moscow" was reported by the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Latvia on December 21, 2023. Then it was noted that the employees of the Latvian special services invaded the center, took away from its employees means of communication, and installed a guard post at the entrance. In addition, the representatives of the "House of Moscow" were interrogated, and an inventory of property and computer equipment was made in the premises.
