The BRICS Alliance for the Development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will help accelerate the association's activities in the field of these technologies on the basis of common developments. This was announced on December 11 by Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), at the annual AI Journey conference, which brings together recognized international experts in AI technologies.

Dmitriev noted that the new alliance will not only create an opportunity for the exchange of competencies, but will also make it possible to set standards for BRICS countries in the field of AI.

"This is especially important against the background of the fact that many Western countries seek to limit the BRICS countries' access to AI technologies. Therefore, our alliance of BRICS countries in the field of artificial intelligence will certainly play an important role both in standards and joint projects, and in ensuring that indeed the BRICS countries develop artificial intelligence technologies even faster and more powerfully, relying on joint developments," Dmitriev said.

He noted that RDIF plays an important role in promoting Russian companies working in this field to international markets in the Middle East, Asia and Latin America. Many domestic companies demonstrate their advantage in different industries. The main strength lies in the fact that developers are open to cooperation, viewing other nations as partners in building technological leadership rather than just customers.

For example, this approach is practiced by Russian companies developing artificial vision technology with partners from Saudi Arabia.

Dmitriev added that 20 companies have already joined the BRICS AI alliance, and more than 50 firms from 10 countries have already expressed interest in it. It is expected that these numbers will multiply. The CEO of RDIF announced the first meeting of the alliance in the first quarter of next year. The new alliance was formed within the framework of the BRICS Business Council and was supported by all countries.

The creation of the BRICS alliance for the development of AI RDIF announced at the conference earlier in the day. Dmitriev specified that this is the largest international initiative of the fund and Russian business in the technological sphere presented in recent years. It will open up new opportunities for cooperation between the BRICS countries and help to significantly expand the scale and quality of technological partnership.
