Berbock said the FRG plans to increase its presence in Syria

Germany will expand its presence in Syria by appointing a special government representative for this purpose. German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said on Wednesday, December 11.
"In light of further developments [in Syria], we will naturally increase our presence on the ground. That is why today I appointed a special coordinator for Syria in the Federal Foreign Office. And I am very pleased that State Minister Tobias Lindner will take on this task," RIA Novosti quoted Berbock as saying.
The diplomat said it was necessary to resume dialog with various groups of Syrian society.
On December 8, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, after negotiations with the opposition, decided to leave the post of head of state and leave the country, instructing to carry out the transfer of power peacefully.
On the same day, the national coalition of revolutionary and opposition forces of Syria announced the work on the formation of a transitional authority. In turn, SAR Prime Minister Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali said that most Syrian government officials remain in Damascus, and he himself is ready to cooperate with any elected leadership.
The situation in Syria has escalated as a result of a major attack by armed formations in Aleppo and Idlib, which began on November 28 and led to the Syrian army's retaliation against the militants.
