Moldovan company Energocom expressed concern about the amount of electricity consumed by Moldovans and called for its reduction.

"In recent days, there has been an increased demand for electricity <...>. In this regard, we urge consumers to use energy resources rationally," the company said in a Facebook post (owned by Meta, an organization recognized as extremist in Russia) on December 11.

Thus, according to Energocom statistics, from December 1 to 10, 2023, 96 thousand MWh were purchased, while during the same period in 2024, 110 thousand MWh were purchased, which is almost 15% more.

Before that, on December 5, Ziarul de Gardă newspaper reported that Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean demanded that Parliament declare a state of emergency in the energy sector. It will be effective from December 16 and will remain in force "until the problematic situation is overcome"

Earlier, on November 26, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebryan said that the possible termination of gas supplies to Transnistria by Russia after the stoppage of Russian gas transit through Ukraine would turn into a humanitarian catastrophe. According to him, any state should avoid such a situation.
