The domestic packaging market may grow up to Br1.7 trillion in 2025. This is stated in the research results of analysts of the investment company Uniservice Capital, which were presented to Izvestia on December 11. In this case, one of the leaders in growth may become the industry of cardboard food packaging, showing an increase in volumes at the level of 20%.

Experts noted that the main driver of the packaging market growth in 2024 was the increase in production and consumption of packaging materials. The activation of import substitution reached the maximum, and almost all areas were localized. Thus, the volume of corrugated cardboard packaging production may increase to 9.5 billion square meters by the end of the year against 9 billion square meters in 2023, while price growth is restrained by the fact that large stocks have formed in the market and competition has increased.

At the same time, analysts specified that the segment of cardboard food packaging, which belongs to the industry of packaging for liquid products, at the end of the year showed growth at the level of 5.5%. At the same time, in 2025 experts predict an increase in growth rates up to 20%, which is due to the delayed effect of rising inflation, the development of export direction in the market itself and the implementation of investment and other projects of companies.

In addition, the company drew attention to the fact that there is also development in the main markets of food carton packaging: the production of marketable milk in January-September 2024 increased by 2% to 20 million tons compared to the same period last year, in 2024 there was an increase in juice production by 44%.

Investment projects are also being implemented. The construction of the largest complex for the production of corrugated cardboard and corrugated cardboard packaging has started. In addition, active construction of plants to recycle packaging waste continues. Export direction is developing, especially in Asia and Eastern Europe.

Earlier, on November 26, it was reported that the Russian Environmental Operator (REO) has analyzed the available technologies of waste disposal in Russia and identified the production facilities that use juice and milk cartons to produce raw materials for ballpoint pens. In the country, 14 plants with a capacity of 25.2 thousand tons recycle combined packaging - tetrapack and other types of packaging in which juices and milk are poured. A year 240 thousand tons of waste is generated. Pens made of recycled materials are most often produced by companies specializing in eco-products.
