Peskov denied Orban passed messages to Putin from Trump

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban did not convey any messages from US President-elect Donald Trump to Russian leader Vladimir Putin during their telephone conversation. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on December 11.
"No," the presidential spokesman said when asked by reporters about the Hungarian prime minister passing any messages to Putin from Trump.
He added that the conversation was mainly on the topic of energy, the conflict in Ukraine and the actions taking place in Syria.
Orban's phone call with Putin became known earlier in the day. The Kremlin press service said that the conversation took place at the initiative of the Hungarian side. The report also specified that the Hungarian prime minister showed interest in helping to jointly find a solution to the political and diplomatic crisis in Ukraine, including involving Western leaders in the issue.
On the same day, Orban said that the most dangerous weeks of the conflict in Ukraine were underway. He added that Hungary is ready to use all diplomatic means at their disposal to stop the fire.
The Hungarian prime minister also said on Dec. 11 that Trump has not yet spoken out about a ceasefire in Ukraine, but things will change after his inauguration. According to him, there have been no talks on Ukraine because Trump has not taken office as president. Orban said that after the inauguration on January 20, everyone will "experience the beneficial effect" of the 47th U.S. president's policies.
