French President Emmanuel Macron plans to deploy the country's military on the territory of Ukraine as his state is losing its positions in global and domestic politics. State Duma deputy Alexander Tolmachyov shared this opinion with Izvestiya on 11 December.

The fact that Macron would like to deploy about 40,000 military personnel to engage them to enforce the ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine was previously reported by Elie Tenenbaum of the French Institute of International Relations to the Rzeczpospolita publication.

"How the formations of NATO countries and their satellites "ensure peace" is well remembered in the Balkans, the Middle East and other parts of the world. I think Macron is just trying to make a good face and he will not be allowed to really solve the issues concerning the new world order. In France, it is a time of powerlessness and ignominy," Tolmachev commented.

Thus, he added, the French authorities, who have lost their positions in Africa and are mired in migration problems at home, are now frantically looking for opportunities to show that they are still at the top of world politics. At present, Western leaders have only provocation and escalation of violence among their methods, the interlocutor summarized.

Before that, on December 10, the leader of the French party "Patriots" Florian Philippot did not rule out the elaboration of Macron's plans to send troops to Ukraine before the inauguration of Donald Trump, who won the U.S. presidential election. At the same time, a demonstration was held in Paris on December 1 against sending Western troops to Ukraine, as well as in support of halting arms deliveries to Kiev.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on December 4 that Germany would not send its troops to Ukraine. He also pointed out that it was premature to discuss further actions after the cease-fire and peace had been achieved. Poland, for its part, also ruled out the transfer of the military to Ukraine.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine against the background of Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on 24 February 2022 after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
