Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz criticized the name of grenade launchers, which the country buys from Sweden. The minister said this on December 11 on the air of radio station TokFM, the recording was published on his YouTube channel.

The weapons are named in honor of King Carl X Gustav of Sweden, who unleashed the Northern War. During his reign, Swedish troops invaded the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

"Very good quality grenade launchers. The only thing I don't like about them is the name, because they are Carl Gustav grenade launchers. The same Carl Gustav. I propose to change the name," - said the Minister.

It is noted that Warsaw has purchased from Sweden several thousand weapons for about $1.6 billion.

Prior to that, on November 1, Poland explained the refusal to increase aid to Ukraine by the priority of its security. Kosyniak-Kamysh also noted that Poland's own defense capability is now more important than assistance to Ukraine.
