291 traffic accidents were recorded on Russian roads over the past day, in which 28 people were killed and 349 injured. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Wednesday, December 11, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 110 road accidents involving pedestrians, six people were killed, another 107 were injured of varying severity. Among the victims are 26 children, 15 of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of accidents involving pedestrians, 55 occurred at crosswalks and the same number outside the crosswalk zone.

There were 20 accidents involving buses on Tuesday, killing one person and injuring 31 others. The cause of 16 accidents with buses was the violation of traffic rules by their drivers. There were also 32 accidents involving minors, in which there were no dead children, while 33 teenagers were injured.

In the regions of the country there are still temporary traffic closures on some road sections due to deteriorating road and weather conditions. Thus, in the Krasnoyarsk region, due to heavy snowfall, a low-level snowstorm and gusty winds, traffic is restricted from the fifth to the 22nd km of the highway to the airport of Norilsk.

"In winter conditions, we urge motorists to pay special attention to road conditions. When planning long-distance trips, it is necessary to study the weather forecast and the route in advance, determine possible detour routes or, if possible, refuse long car trips altogether. Frequent occurrence of mixed forms of precipitation limits visibility and road grip, so you should be extremely careful when driving. Reducing the speed and increasing the distance will help you avoid accidents," - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of propaganda of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.

In the traffic police recommended motorists in case of a negative weather forecast to refrain from traveling until the situation on the roads improves, and in urban conditions to switch to public transport.

December 9, it was reported that budget revenues from fines for unpaid travel on federal toll roads for three years increased sixfold. Thus, in 2021-2024, federal budget revenues from fines for unpaid travel amounted to 2.9 billion rubles. At the same time, in 2024, which has not yet ended, the collections reached 976.3 million rubles.
