Callas says Trump needs to get tough with Russian Federation to control China

The new head of European Union (EU) diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, has said that newly elected US President Donald Trump must be tough on Russia if he wants to have a real influence on China. The Politico newspaper wrote about this on December 10.
"If you don't want problems with China, I think you have to be really strong on Russia," Callas said, speaking at an event in Brussels.
She suggested that "strong and unwavering" Western support for Ukraine could prevent future conflicts, including a potential escalation of the Taiwan crisis. In her opinion, such a move by Trump would make Beijing think about possible consequences.
Earlier, on December 8, Trump said he was actively trying to end the conflict in Ukraine. The American president-elect added that after his inauguration Kiev should not expect military assistance in the previous volume.
In November, it was reported that Trump was going to break the deepening partnership between China, Russia, Iran and DPRK. It was noted that the new American leader is currently without strong support from allies, which puts him at a disadvantage. The best strategy for Trump to boost the confidence of US allies is to help Kiev.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Trump's desire to "disengage" Russia and China is not understandable, as this cooperation is not directed against the interests of other countries.
