Russian Armed Forces commander says demoralized state of AFU in Kursk region

The Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) units fighting in the Kursk border area consist mainly of mobilized servicemen, whose condition is currently absolutely demoralized. The battalion commander of the 177th Marine Infantry Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces (AFU) with the call sign Granit said on December 11.

"In general, I can say that in principle the enemy is demoralized. To a greater extent, there is a unit of thero-defense in this direction here. Yes, there are mobilized guys there, not particularly interested in fighting on the side of Ukraine," TASS quoted him as saying.

According to the battalion commander, Russian fighters face elite Ukrainian units on the most important parts of the front, but even those fail.

Earlier, on December 10, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the AFU had lost more than 200 servicemen in the Kursk direction over the past 24 hours. It was noted that the units of the "North" group of forces defeated the formations of 12 AFU brigades in 10 localities of Kursk region. At the same time, the AFU lost more than 39.6 thousand troops during the entire period of hostilities in the Russian region.

Before that, on December 9, Igor Snizhko, an AFU prisoner of war from Dnipropetrovsk region, who surrendered to the Russian troops in Kursk region, said that he had saved his life thanks to the actions of servicemen of the "North" group of troops. He noted that after being surrounded, he took out a leaflet from his pocket with a call to surrender and realized that this was his only chance.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory are being liquidated.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
