Slovakia highly appreciates the peace plan of Brazil and China to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, intends to support it and plans to become a part of the Friends of Peace at the UN. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo said this on December 10 after talks with Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin.

"We offer all our modest possibilities that Slovakia has so that we can support this plan in various forms. I express confidence that Brazil, together with China, as well as other major countries, will play an extremely important role and hostilities on the territory of Ukraine will be stopped," the TASR news agency quoted the prime minister as saying.

According to Slovak PM Fitzo, Brazil could have a key role in reforming the UN. Bratislava, like Brasilia, believes that the UN Security Council (UNSC) should be expanded to include permanent and non-permanent members.

"That is why we are applying for non-permanent membership of the UNSC in 2028 and 2029. Bratislava will gratefully accept any support from Brazil," Fico noted.

Earlier, on December 9, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo said in an interview published on Youtube channel Spravodajca that Russia is militarily invincible and will be able to hold the liberated territories.

Earlier, on September 27, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China, Brazil and other countries of the Global South intend to set up an open "Friends of Peace" platform to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Later, he said that Beijing was against pouring oil on the fire of the Ukrainian crisis, emphasizing that the Chinese government was a mediator between Russia and Ukraine and was actively promoting the idea of peace talks.

As the first deputy chairman of the State Duma's international affairs committee, Dmitriy Novikov, pointed out, China will not ignore the interests of the Russian Federation when trying to settle the conflict in Ukraine.

At the same time, on September 26, Ukrainian diplomats called for a boycott of China's peace plan to settle the conflict, which was presented at the UN General Assembly. For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (whose term of office expired on May 20) said that he opposed the plan of Brazil and China to settle the Ukrainian conflict and called it destructive. He expressed the opinion that the two countries had allegedly discussed their peace initiative with Moscow in advance.

Later, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called such assessments of the head of the Kiev regime boorish. He added that in the "Sino-Brazilian points, all words are correct" and the Friends of Peace group established in New York calls for peace, justice and fulfillment of international law.

The special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced on February 24, 2022, is still ongoing. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
