An expert spoke about the purpose of introducing a new position in the Airborne Forces battalions

According to military expert Viktor Litovkin, the introduction of the position of deputy commander for logistics in Airborne Forces battalions, which became known from sources in the Defense Ministry, is dictated by the experience of a special military operation (SMO).

"The deputy battalion commander will get subordinates who will help him solve supply issues, will probably increase the amount of transportation. Most likely, it will be an officer with the rank of major: the battalion commander is usually in the rank of lieutenant colonel, and his deputies are a step lower. Of course, officers in the position of deputy battalion commander for logistics will have much more authority and opportunities. This is justified. They are responsible for ensuring that the soldiers of the unit are provided with all kinds of allowances," the expert explained.

The SWO has shown, the expert noted, that battalions often operate in isolation from the main forces of the regiment.

"They require additional ammunition, food, equipment, ammunition and much more. The logistics of delivering all these materiel is also becoming more complicated. Based on this, it is clear that supply issues need to be addressed at a higher level. For this reason, I believe that the introduction of the new position is justified. It is important that the decision was born during a special military operation, so it is dictated by life", - summarized Litovkin.
