The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) said that the company Epic Games, the creator of the game Fortnite, unfairly forced players of all ages to make unwanted in-game purchases. NBC News reported on December 11.
"The FTC alleges that Fortnite's illogical, inconsistent, and confusing button configuration resulted in players of all ages being subjected to unwanted payments for pressing a single button," the regulator said.
The publication reports that the FTC will direct more than $72 million to US players. The average payout will be about $114 per person.
Fortnite is a battle royale game that was released in 2017. You can play alone or in a team. The main goal is to destroy the other users.
