Lawyer calls Jay-Z's rape conviction a mockery of the judicial system

In modern liberal society it is common to collect money from actors and celebrities using accusations of crimes that were committed many years ago. This was stated by lawyer Arkady Bukh on December 10.
"It is easiest to prove cases that were (committed. - Ed.) 25 years ago. There is no evidence base except people's stories," Bukh told Izvestia.
The expert explained that such a trend is a liberal continuation of the concept of the Me Too movement, which aims to reduce the stigmatization of sexually abused women.
"A woman waited a quarter of a century to be remembered. That is the Me Too concept," the attorney clarified.
Using the example of rapper Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter), who is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000, Buch pointed out "the state of rape in society." He emphasized that the victim remains silent about the incident for years and goes to the police years later when it is nearly impossible to gather evidence.
"How can you fight off a ghost when you don't know who the person in question is," the expert concluded.
Earlier, on December 9, charges were filed against American rapper Jay-Z for the rape of a 13-year-old girl he allegedly committed 25 years ago with rapper and producer Sean Combs (known by his alias P.Diddy).
Rapper P. Diddy was taken into custody in New York City on September 17 by court order. It was specified that in 2023, P. Diddy's ex-girlfriend accused him of human trafficking and years of violence. On the day of his arrest, the rapper was charged with organizing prostitution and human trafficking. A court hearing to hear Combs' case is scheduled for May 5, 2025.
Later, the rape allegations against him continued to multiply. On Oct. 21, CNN reported that seven new lawsuits had been filed against P. Diddy. They are the first time other stars have been accused, but their names have not been released. The allegations include rape, harassment, battery and unlawful imprisonment at Combs' parties from 2000 to 2022. Afterward, on Oct. 29, Reuters learned of P. Diddy's new charge of abusing a 10-year-old child in 2005 and a 17-year-old in 2008. Three more people, including two men, filed sexual assault charges against Combs on Nov. 20. The episodes took place in 2022, in the early 2000s and in 2004.
U.S. attorney Arkady Buch suggests the rapper could face multiple life sentences, but prosecutors could go after the artist and reduce the sentence if he testifies against important people.
The New York Times reported on Nov. 16 that Combs was accused of trying to obstruct a criminal investigation into extortion and human trafficking. According to law enforcement officials, he tried to evade responsibility with the help of bribes. The report appeared a week before the hearing that will decide whether P. Diddy will be released on bail.
