Yemeni Houthis struck two US Navy destroyers in the Gulf of Aden. Yahya Saria, a military spokesman for the Houthis, said on December 10.

"The Yemeni Armed Forces' naval, drone and missile forces carried out a military operation targeting three US supply ships. <...> It also targeted two US destroyers in the Gulf of Aden escorting the supply ships," Saria wrote in his Telegram channel.

He said missiles and drones were used in the operation and the strikes reached their targets. The Houthi spokesman added that this was the second attack on ships and destroyers in the Gulf in 10 days.

Saria also said that the Houthi Armed Forces attacked the Jaffa neighborhoods of Tel Aviv and Ashkelonu in Israel on the morning of the day and the drones, he said, also reached their targets.

Earlier, on Dec. 1, Saria said the Houthis shelled three supply ships (the tanker Stena Impeccable, the container ship Maersk Saratoga and the dry cargo ship Liberty Grace) and a US-owned destroyer in the Arabian Sea. Saria said the operation was in support of the Palestinian people and their resistance.

On the same day, the Houthis launched a rocket attack on the Jaffa neighborhood. Saria said they plan to "double military operations with rockets and drones" amid Israel's ongoing crimes in Gaza.

Prior to that, on Nov. 22, Saria said Yemeni Houthis attacked Israel's Nevatim base in the Negev region with a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile. According to the movement's spokesman, the munition reached its target.

The Houthis began striking ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since last November to protest Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip. On the night of Jan. 12, in response to their actions, the U.S. and Britain launched an attack on Houthi targets in Yemen. The White House said the strikes on movement-controlled areas of the country were defensive in nature. It was also claimed at the time that the strikes were carried out to protect international vessels.
