The State Duma explained plans to increase fines for traffic violations

An increase in fines for violating traffic rules can help reduce the number of violators and make roads safer. This opinion was expressed by Vitaly Efimov, member of the State Duma Committee on Transport, President of the Union of Transport Workers of Russia, on Tuesday, December 10.
Earlier in the day it became known that the State Duma Committee on State Construction supported the bill, which suggests increasing fines for traffic violations by an average of 1.5 times, RT reports. We are talking about the articles of the 12th chapter of the CAO. The changes were proposed by the Russian government as part of amendments to the bill on increasing the fine for driving without MTPL insurance. If the document is adopted, the changes will come into force on January 1, 2025, reports 360.ru.
"It is necessary to comply with the rules of the road. Look, passenger cars then fly into stops, then fail to cope with the control, then sit drunk, then something drugged. How much is a life worth? Those who don't break the law are not penalized. And while some rules do not apply to people, sanctions are needed to exclude further violation of the rules," the deputy said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru.
Earlier in the day it was reported that the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation has developed amendments to the Budget Code, which would allow to redistribute revenues from fines for traffic violations in favor of the federal budget, reports NSN.
December 6 in the office of the Chairman of the Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs Yaroslav Nilov told "Izvestia" that a bill will be submitted to the Duma, which provides for exemption from fines for traffic violations from cameras of photo-video fixation of the owners of cars of special services, equipped with a blue flashing beacon.
Prior to that, November 26, the State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill to introduce a fine of up to Br5 thousand for repeated driving without a MTPL policy.
