Almost 400 animals and birds were included in the Red Book of the Moscow Region


The Red Book of the Moscow Region includes 378 objects of fauna. These representatives of fauna need special protection, the press service of the regional Ministry of Ecology and Nature Management reports within the framework of the International Day of Animal Rights.
The Moscow region has traditionally been a leader in the development of protected areas. Specialists of the department are constantly working on the preservation and restoration of populations, introducing innovative methods and technologies.
At the moment there are 262 specially protected natural territories of regional importance in the Moscow region. There are 283 thousand hectares under special protection, which is more than 6% of the total area of the region.
The International Day of Animal Rights is celebrated annually on December 10. The holiday was established in 1990 on the initiative of the International Vegetarian Union and is aimed at attracting public attention to the problems of animals and the need for their protection.
The Declaration of Animal Rights consists of 10 articles. The document states that every living creature has the right to respect and life without suffering, exploitation and death. Also, a person should take care of the restoration of populations of different species, writes the online edition "Podmoskovye Segodnya".
In the Moscow region there are various organizations and associations involved in protecting animal rights and promoting the ideas of humane treatment of animals.
