People aged 50-59 are more likely to spend money on vacations or tourist trips than younger Russians, according to the results of a study by the Higher School of Economics (HSE), as reported by Izvestia on December 10.

"If we compare the structure of expenditures of the group of 18-49 years old and over 50, the second is characterized by significantly higher shares of spending on food (27.7 and 37.2%) and housing and communal services (7.8 and 12%). The share of spending on medicines and medical services in the age cohorts is almost twice as high (5.8 and 10.9%)," the experts noted.

In the consumption structure of younger people, in turn, the share of spending on clothing and footwear is higher (9.2%) than in the older population (6.6%), as well as more significant spending on recreation outside the home (7.8 vs. 5.5%) and hobbies (5.6 and 2.3%), food outside the home (4.5 and 2.3%), the study said.

In addition, the proportion having savings increases among 60-69 year olds. And among 50-59-year-olds from 15 to 19% increased the number of those who said that they can live on savings from two to four months, said the experts of the Higher School of Economics.

Earlier, September 16, it was reported that every second Russian respondent (53%) has savings for unexpected expenses. At the same time, 59% of respondents form a financial safety cushion. This is stated in the results of the study "SberStrakhovanie life", services "Work.ru" and "Podrabotka". Of those who form a financial safety cushion, every third (28%) save about 10% of their monthly income, every fifth (21%) - from 11 to 24%.
