Experts told about the ways of registration of tax deduction on PDS

From the beginning of 2025, any citizen officially working in Russia whose employer makes regular contributions to the budget under personal income tax (PIT) is entitled to a tax deduction under the new long-term savings program (LSP). Experts of the NPF "Dignified Future" told "Izvestia" how to get a tax deduction from savings contributions under the LSP from the beginning of 2025.
Tax deduction, which from January 1, 2025 can be used by participants of the long-term savings program will be up to 52 thousand rubles annually when paying contributions to the PDS up to 400 thousand rubles. If a participant in the long-term savings program has income taxed at the rate of 15%, the maximum deduction will be 60 thousand rubles. A refund of Br88 thousand is possible when receiving high taxable income - over Br50 million per year.
There are three ways to get a tax deduction for long-term savings. The first option involves registration of the deduction through the tax authority at the place of residence. To do this, it is necessary to fill out a tax return in the form of 3-NDFL at the end of the year in which the payment of savings contributions was made. And it is also necessary to obtain a certificate of income and tax amounts of an individual from the accounting department at the place of work for the relevant year, prepare documents confirming the payment of savings contributions, provide the tax authority at the place of residence with a completed tax return and the collected package of documents.
The second method involves the return of the deduction through the employer. From January 1, 2025, the deduction is provided through the accounting department at the place of work, provided that savings contributions are deducted from wages and transferred to the NPF by the employer. For this purpose, a corresponding application must be submitted at the place of employment. From then on, your employer will provide a tax deduction every time the PDS savings contribution is deducted from your salary. Thus, the part of your monthly paycheck will go up, experts said.
The third option involves making a deduction in a simplified procedure through the personal cabinet of the taxpayer on the website of the Federal Tax Service. The application for a tax deduction is filled out automatically on the basis of information on income received by the tax authorities for the relevant year. After the application is submitted, the inspectorate will conduct a check. After 30 calendar days, the inspection will make a decision on the payment of the deduction.
Earlier, on December 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the plenary session of the forum "Russia Calling!" that the long-term savings program attracted 145 billion rubles from 2.1 million depositors. He stressed that the program has a more ambitious goal. Thus, according to the head of state, in 2026 it is planned to attract at least Br2.3 trillion in the PDS, which will exceed 1% of GDP.
