Expert predicted a 10-15% rise in car prices in early 2025

The demand for new cars in early 2025 may decrease by 10-20%, while car prices are expected to increase by 10-15%. This was stated by Alexei Tuzov, an independent transportation industry expert, to Izvestia on December 11.
"After the withdrawal from the Russian car market of European, Japanese, Korean manufacturers and the active expansion of Chinese brands, not only the pent-up, but also the outstripping demand of Russians for new cars was satisfied, especially taking into account special offers from dealers and car manufacturers, government support programs," he noted.
In addition, a number of economic factors stimulated Russians to buy cars in such periods - it is the expectation of growth of utilization fee and the key rate of the Central Bank, the expert said. In this regard, the demand for new cars in early 2025 may decrease by 10-20%, depending on changes in the rate, utilization fee, exchange rate and, accordingly, the cost of the car.
"It is already clear that new car sales in November and December this year will be lower than in September and October. It is difficult to predict exactly how much prices may rise from 2025 onwards, but they are unlikely to increase less than the rate of inflation, which is forecast to be around 5% at the start of next year. The overall price increase could be 10-15%. In theory, the expansion of the range in the segment of new cars, for example, due to the appearance in Russia Chery Tiggo 9, the new Omoda C5 and a model from Jaecoo, will allow to restrain prices, but with low demand it will not last long," - concluded Tuzov.
It was reported on December 6 that the traditional New Year discounts on cars in dealerships are not expected this year. The reason for this dealers note the economic situation, which leads to an increase in prices for new cars. Car dealerships will try to attract the attention of customers with gifts and offers, but not on the same scale as before.
