The main New Year's tree of St. Petersburg will be brought by the end of the week

The main Christmas tree of St. Petersburg will be brought to Palace Square from Vyborgsky district of Leningrad region by the end of the week. This information was announced by the head of the Committee on press and media relations Vladimir Ryabovol at a government meeting, reports TV channel "78".

This year in the Northern Capital will install two live fir trees on the Palace and Anchor squares, as well as 24 artificial ones. By Tuesday, December 10, should place and illuminate all the festive equipment. Lights on New Year's trees will be lit on December 20.

More than 330 events are planned for the holidays in the city. Thus, the New Year's performance will begin on December 31 at 21:00 on Palace Square. It will end on January 3 at 3:00. Traffic on Nevsky Prospekt will close at 18:00, and the subway will continue to work.
