In October, the cost of sheets in Russia fell by 16.4% compared to the previous month, bed linen sets - by 14.3%, and duvet covers - by 11.8%. This was reported to Izvestia by analysts of the state labeling system "Honest Mark".

The average price of one sheet in September was 978 rubles, but in October it fell to 818 rubles. Duvet covers fell in price from Br1,418 to Br1,251, and bed linen sets - from Br2,020 to Br1,731. The exception was pillowcases, the price of which remained virtually unchanged (Br369), and towels, which rose in price by 3.6% - from Br277 to Br287. For comparison, in the same period last year, prices for all kinds of textiles showed growth.

Varvara Mikhailova, head of the consumer goods department of the Center for Development of Advanced Technologies (operator of the "Honest Mark" system), explained the decline in prices by the growth of domestic textile production.

"We record that the volume of textile production in Russia has increased by 23.5% in just one month. If in September almost 12 million textile products were produced, in October - already 14.8 million. In January - October of this year, production increased by 8.9% compared to the same period last year, reaching 116.1 million products", - she said.

However, experts warned that seasonal demand for textiles ahead of the holidays could bring prices back to previous levels and even higher.

"The peak of sales, as last year shows, is in December. We are likely to see a similar situation this year, because bed linen or towels are among the popular gifts for the New Year. Together with the increase in demand, prices will inevitably increase," added Mikhailova.

Earlier, December 3, it was reported that during the November sales, the average price tag in retail for the top 50 non-food categories of goods rose by 4% compared to the same period last year. It reached Br6.1 thousand, while the number of purchases increased by 5%. Dmitry Batyushenkov, General Director of the fiscal data operator "Platform OFD" told "Izvestia" about it.
