One person was killed and 51 injured in two chain accidents involving about 30 cars on the Van Ercis highway in eastern Turkey. This was reported by Turkish TV channel NTV Haber on December 10.

"Two separate chain accidents involving about 30 vehicles occurred on the Van Ercis highway. Health, gendarmerie, police, AFAD [Turkey's disaster and emergency management agency] and fire department teams were dispatched to the region," the publication said.

Regional governor Ozan Balci cited thick fog and hidden ice as the causes of the incidents.

The injured were taken to hospitals. It is noted that serious harm to health as a result of the incident received four people.

The roadway opened to traffic from one lane after the vehicles involved in the accident were removed from the road.

Earlier, on December 3, an intercity bus collided with a truck in a suburb of Turkey's Denizli, killing one person and injuring 20 others.

Before that, on November 24, it was reported that in the city of Afyonkarahisar in western Turkey there was an accident with three cars, including a passenger bus. As a result of the accident injured 30 people.
